Intervention Statement

The Cornelia Sorabji satellite project aims at expanding the scope of the author's section on the One More Voice website and giving more space to the context of her life and work. Though the website does a very good job in terms of its emphasis on bringing the non-European voices to the forefront, it does not provide enough information about Sorabji. It only provides links to the author's Wikipedia page and some of her works. The "Visual Materials" and "Book-Length Materials" sections of the website are not directly linked to a main hub or section that connects all of these materials to author's name in order to facilitate the user's search experience. 

As for this "Visual Materials" section, it only includes one image that relates to Cornelia Sorabji and the context of her works. Further, one of her open access books is not included in the "Book-Length Works" section on One More Voice. It is also worth noting that Sorabji does not have any video or audio materials on the Internet as I was unable to find any. Addressing such small details can make a huge difference in the user's experience, especially when we want to bring light to the voices and the lives of the authors on the website.

As I work on my project, I believe that it is necessary to provide more biographical information about the author and some brief introductions to her available open access books as a part of the contextualization process of the author's work. I will also add her missing book titled India Calling: The Memories of Cornelia Sorabji. 

The websites I am working on will include six of the author's works and some images that are related to her and the context of her social activism. The images will be uploaded to Webnode and each one of them will include a brief description of each photo that reflects the image's connection to author's work.

The Webnode website will be connected to the main Wix website. It will include the course assignments which are the main components of the project development process. These include the website reviews, the author introduction and bibliography in addition to the texts introductions and pull-quote statement. 

Overall, my One More Voice satellite project will provide more historical, cultural and socio-political details about Cornelia Sorabji through the implementation of such materials in a way that supports the website's goal of shedding some light on the lives and works of such minoritized voices. Having such satellite projects will be a great expansion of the One More Voice website and the its efforts in recovering and centering the non-European contributions during the nineteenth century and its years of colonialism.
